1. Tesla Model 3 with dual motor starts reservation this week
Tesla will open Model 3 orders and reveal the specific parameter and price of dual motor and performance versions of the Model 3 this week. Model 3 with dual motor is to start production in July. Tesla only produces Model 3 with Long Range battery pack (range of 498 km at US EPA standard), rear -wheel-drive and premium interior package.


2. Germany makes the first ethical standard for autonomous driving
Germany adopts a world first set of ethical standards for autonomous driving:

  • Autonomous driving systems become an ethical imperative if the systems cause fewer accidents than human drivers. 
  • Human safety must always take top priority over damage to animals or property.
  • In the event of an unavoidable accident, any discrimination based on age, gender, race, physical attributes, or any other distinguishing factors are impermissible.
  • In any driving situation, the party responsible, whether human or computer, must be clearly regulated and apparent.
  • For liability purposes, a “black box” of driver data must always be documented and stored.
  • Drivers retain sole ownership over whether or not their vehicle data is forwarded or used by third parties.

  • While vehicles may react autonomously in the event of emergency situations, humans shall regain control during more morally ambiguous events.

 

3. Tencent receives self-driving license for road tests
On May 14th, Tencent obtains license for road tests of intelligent connected vehicles issued by Shen zhen government. Self-driving vehicles of Tencent, modified from Haval H7 of Great Wall, are equipped with a Velodyne 64-channel line, a 32-channel LiDAR, six 4-channel LiDARs in car body, a millimeter-wave radar to the rear and three cameras at the front.
