1.Geely to invest 32.6 billion yuan in Huzhou for NEV project
On Feb. 11, Geely signed an agreement with Changxing economic and technological development zone for the development of new energy vehicles with an investment of 32.6 billion yuan. 22.4 billion yuan will be used in a project with an annual production capacity of over 300,000 units and the rest will go to gearbox manufacturing with an annual output of 600,000 units. The project includes production bases of automobile and auto parts as well as headquarter, etc.

 

2.FAW Toyota unveiled its 2018 new product plan, Avalon to be produced in China soon
FAW Toyota unveiled its 2018 new product plan recently. It will launch 9 models in 2018, including one mini SUV IZOA, one new model and modified/derivative models. IZOA will be listed in the middle of this year, which was regarded as a sister model of C-HR. Another new model is likely to be Avalon that FAW Toyota expects to mass-produced in late 2018 or the beginning of 2019. The Corolla plug-in hybrid version will also be launched in 2018. Meanwhile, Faw Toyota will also unveil some existing models this year, which may includes Vios FS, RAV4 Rong.

 

3.CSIRO & Zongmu to develop bionic eye technology
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) reportedly adopts bionic eye technology, a breakthrough which may enable autonomous vehicles with ability to detect complex traffic situation. Data 61, a department of CSIRO is in cooperation with Zongmu Technology ( a Chinese company focusing on ADAS products) on visual equipment for vehicles by which vehicle could detect the surroundings and escape the danger within at least 10 m. It is estimated that the technology would be tested within a year.
